COURTLAND – Catherine Baker Lamar, 48, died Saturday, June 18, 2005, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.
Services were Wednesday at New Bethlehem M.B. Church. Rev. Walter L. Nash officiated. Burial was in New Bethlehem M.B. Church Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary had charge.
Lamar, born Dec. 21, 1956, in Batesville to the late D.A. Baker and the late Reola Greenlaw, was a factory worker, a Sunday school teacher and youth choir director.
Survivors include her husband, Calvin Lamar of Courtland; two daughters, Angela Lamar and Amelia Lamar, both of Courtland; two brothers, David Lee Baker of Courtland and Barry Gates of Fort Sill, Okla. and five sisters, Christine Pride, Lee Ann Cannon and Bertha J. Cauthen, all of Batesville, Bertha Ree Chatman of Decauter, Ga. and Dorothy Thomas of Lynn, Mass.; and one grandchild.
LAMB, Katie L.
BATESVILLE- Katie L. Lamb, 84, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at Barefield Health Care in Guntersville, Ala. of heart failure.
Services were Friday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
Lamb, born Nov. 22, 1920, to the late Walter Jack and Bessie Rule Ellard, was a homemaker and a member of the Pentecostal Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. O.E. Lamb and one daughter Barbara Lamb Whitehead.
Survivors include eight daughters, Edna Lamb Nation, Teresa Lamb Stegel and Rhonda Lamb Click, all of Missouri; Shirley Lamb Fisher, Martha Lamb McDuffie and Ruth Lamb Cochran, all of Boaz, Ala., Mary Lamb Cheatham of Louisiana and Saundra Lamb Eckstadt of Illinois; three sons, Halbert Lamb and James Lamb, both of Louisiana and David Lamb of Missouri; one sister Marie Ellard Toten of Mississippi; one brother John Ellard of Mississippi; 26 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
LAMBERT, Mary Ruth Barham
CRENSHAW – Mary Ruth Barham Lambert, 91, died Wednesday, November 2, 2005, at Baptist Desoto Hospital.
Services were Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Crenshaw. Minister Dave Cowart officiated. Burial was in Longtown Cemetery. Pate-Jones Funeral Home had charge.
Lambert was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Crenshaw.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Sarah Gowen.
Survivors include two sons, James "Jim" Lambert and Gene Lambert; one sister, Rachel Marquez of Starkville and seven grandchildren, Jerry and Jeffery Gowen, Chris, Craig and Curt Lambert and Leslie Lambert and Lisa Lambert.

LANE, Joyce Boyette
Bay City, Mich. – Joyce Boyette Lane, 68, formerly of Batesville, died Sunday, October 16, 2005.
Services are tomorrow at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Pate – Jones Funeral Home. Burial will be in Marks Cemetery. Pate – Jones Funeral Home of Senatobia has charge.
Lane was a retired office clerk and a member of West Bank Michigan Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Lane, and one son, Robert Smith.

Lark, born April 5, 1954, to the late Willie B. Lark and the late Beatrice Nelson, was a member of Cherry St. M.B. Church in Como.
Survivors include one daughter, Tiffany Lark of Como; three sisters, Lisa Lark and Mary Howard, both of Como, and Willie M. Wink of Senatobia; and one brother, George Lark of Como.
LAWS, Mosie Lee
BATESVILLE – Mosie Lee Laws, 84, died Saturday, May 28, at her residence of heart failure.
Services are tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Mt. Zion M.B. Church. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Delta Burial Corporation has charge.
Laws, born July 23, 1920, in Enid, was a retired cook.
Survivors include one daughter, Octavia Lester of Batesville; two sons, Veronon Laws of Cincinatti, Ohio and Myron Laws of Charleston and one sister, Mary Ann Wright of Cincinatti, Ohio.
LEACH, Maxine Everett
OXFORD – Maxine Everett Leach, 79, died Saturday, August 6, 2005, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.
Memorial services were yesterday at Waller Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Clint Harris officiated. Waller Funeral Home had charge.
Leach was a retired line worker with Parker Hannafin in Batesville.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Goodwin of Oxford, Marian Chancey and Deborah Stewart, both of Memphis, Tenn.; one son, James Belcher of Thaxton; one sister, Lottie Redd of Crenshaw; 16 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Lee, Margaret Herron
TYLERTOWN- Margaret Herron Lee, 86, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at Marion General Hospital.
Services were Tuesday at Capps Funeral Home Chapel in Tylertown. Rev. Tom Samson, Rev. Larmar Massingill and Brother Joe Boone, officiated. Burial was in Kokomo Cemetery. Capps Funeral Home had charge.
Lee, born Nov. 2, 1918, in Courtland to the late Fulton and Merle Herron, was a retired home economics school teacher and a member of Kokomo First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded her husband Robert Irvin Lee and one sister Kathryn Oliver.
Survivors include one brother Warren Herron of Batesville; one sister Frances Seale of Batesville; three sons, Bobby Lee, Jimmy Lee and Gary Lee, all of Tylertown; six grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
LEE, Roy Dell
ENID – Roy Dell Lee, 83, died Saturday, June 4, 2005, at his residence.
Services are today at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Batesville. Dr. Ron Kirkland and Dr. Gregg Johnston will officiate. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
Lee, born Feb. 14, 1922, in Ludlow, to the late Dr. Thomas B. and Johnnie Booth Lee, was a member of the First Baptist Church of Batesville and a retired industrial arts teacher from the Oakland Public School System in Oakland, Calif., with 32 years of service. He was a member of the Joe B. Hartley Sunday school class and was the oldest deacon of the First Baptist Church. He was also a member of the visitation committee of the church, Usher and official door greeter of the church.
He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Navy Air Corps, VT-3 Squadron, serving on the U.S.S. Saratoga and Yorktown. He was awarded the Air Medal for Meritorious achievement in the Pacific War 1944-1945.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Bansmer Lee of Enid; two daughters, Cheryl Lee Clark of West Memphis, Ark. and Gail Lee Wright of Spring, Texas; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Roy Lee Memorial Fund, First Baptist Church of Batesville, or the Gideons.
LEE, Willie Jr.
BATESVILLE- Willie Lee Jr., 59, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center of heart failure.
Services were Sunday at Pilgrims Rest M.B. Church. Burial was in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery. Hodges Funeral Home had charge.
Lee was a retired truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lenora Lee.
Survivors include three sons, Gregory Lee, Willie Eugene Lee and Stacy Lee, all of Batesville; three sisters, Inez Lee and Eunice Adair, both of Batesville and Rosie Trantham of Harvey, Ill.; three brothers, Randy Lee and Michael Lee, both of Batesville and Bill King of Milwaukee, Wis. and four grandchildren.
LEIGH, Iola Katherine
TUNICA – Iola Katherine Leigh, 75, died Saturday, July 23, 2005, at Baptist Memorial in Oxford.
Graveside services were Sunday, July 24, 2005, at Batesville Magnolia Cemetery.
Leigh, born Jan. 13, 1930, in Courtland to the late Edwin and Iola Nelson Leigh, was a farmer.

Lenard, born Nov. 15, 1963, was a member of the Pentecostal Church.

LEWIS, Harry L.
SENATOBIA – Harry L. Lewis, 91, died Wednesday, October 26, 2005, at North Oak Regional Hospital in Senatobia.
Services are today at 3 p.m. at Senatobia Church of Christ. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery in Senatobia. Pate – Jones Funeral Home has charge.
Lewis was a retired farmer, a member of Senatobia Church of Christ, a veteran of WWII and was a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy where he served as a naval aviator.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Lewis.
Survivors include his wife, Cornelia Garrott Lewis; two daughters, Ann Lewis Glover of Moulton, Ala. and Linda Lewis Hogan – Harris of Senatobia; one sister, Grace Lewis Gavita of Senatobia; two grandchildren and one great – grandchild.

OXFORD– Oscar Jones Lewis, 90, died Friday, March 4, 2005, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.

Lewis, born Feb. 17, 1915, in Saulsbury, Tenn. to the late William Alexander Lewis and the late Helen Pierce Lewis, was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church, a veteran of WWII and an accountant.
Survivors include his wife Gladys Elizabeth Vick Lewis of Oxford; a son David Vick Lewis of Minter City, Ala.; one daughter Nancy Lewis McPhail of Oxford; four grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

LOVELACE, Sarah Ann Nickle
OXFORD – Sarah Ann Nickle Lovelace, 83, formerly of Batesville, died Friday, August 5, 2005, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.
Services were Sunday at Batesville Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
Lovelace, born Jan. 26, 1922, in Batesville, graduated from Bobo High School in Clarksdale and attended MSCW where she was a member of the Rogue social club. She was an active member of the Batesville Presbyterian Church where she was a deacon, an elder and former president of the Women of the Church. She was a member of the D.A.R., Dames of the Court of Honor and the Batesville Woman’s Club.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Dr. John Rupert Lovelace; three children, Rebecca Lovelace Black of Jackson, Dr. Michael Hogin Lovelace of Oxford and John Rupert Lovelace Jr. of Jonesboro, Ark.; two brothers, William Leonard Nickle and Brent Rawlings Nickle, both of Batesville; eight grandchildren, David Albritton Black, Andrew Lovelace Black and Sarah Spears Black of Jackson, Cortney Ann Lovelace Butler of Franklin, Tenn., Tyler Warren Lovelace of Oxford, Mary John Lovelace White of Jackson, Taylor Elizabeth Lovelace and Morgan Kathryn Lovelace of Jonesboro, Ark.

LUMPKIN, Elizabeth Anne Hall
LAMBERT – Elizabeth Anne Hall Lumpkin, 69, died Thursday, July 14, 2005, at her residence.
Services were Saturday at Kimbro Funeral Home. Chaplain Lyn Turner officiated. Burial was in Lambert Cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.
Lumpkin, born Aug. 21, 1935, was a graduate of Lambert High School and a graduate of The University of Mississippi receiving a bachelor of arts degree in business administration. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Survivor includes one son, Ernest Eugene "Bobby" Lumpkin of Jackson.
LUNSFORD, Audrey Daron
SARDIS – U.S. Army Corporal Audrey Daron Lunsford, 29, died Monday, May 23, 2005, serving with the 155th Brigade in the Iraqi War.
Services were Thursday at First United Pentecostal Church in Batesville. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
Lunsford was a member of First United Pentecostal Church of Batesville and a United States Army corporal.
Survivors include his wife, Vangi Cannon Lunsford of Sardis; one daughter, Paris-Audrey McKaLyne Lunsford of Sardis; his mother, Martha Brown Lunsford of Sardis; one sister, Donna Green Miller of Guinn, Ala.; two brothers, David Smith of Sardis and Danny Green of Russellville, Ark. and his grandmother, Louise Brown of Sardis.
