Introducing Driver 1955!

New Driver - Driver 1955 (1)

Tired of seeing your 1950s cars being driven by drivers from 10 years in the future? I know I was. I tried using the "pudding" driver, but that was a pretty outdated model, and it was almost impossible to skin the helmet. So I decided it was time for something new. And now I'm really, really excited to share it with you!

Driver 1955 features:

- and old-school open-face helmet with a bit of wear and tear on it
- leather, metal, and glass goggles
- canvas and leather earflaps and straps with shiny buckles and rivets

Included in the download:
- Driver model with basic white helmet and default coveralls and gloves
- 4k base skin for the helmet
- Wireframe and AO files to help in making your own skins
- Instructions for 3 methods to replace drivers, with all the necessary .ini files*

*EDIT: It appears I made a slight mistake in my instructions for method #3. You actually need to put Content Manager into developer mode to extract the data folder. To do so, go to "About" in CM, then double-click on the version number about 10 times.

You should be able to install this easily with Content Manager. If you want to do it by hand, just unzip the file and copy/paste the Driver_1955.kn5 file into your Assetto Corsa\content\driver folder. Then follow the instructions for replacing the driver in the car of your choice.

I hope you all dig this as much as I do!

Amazing!! Thank you very much! I'm a big fan of the 50s and this is a piece of art!! It's perfect for the 250F, now we just need more 50s cars =)

Mr. Malarkey

I'm so happy you like it. Wouldn't it be great if we had W196s and Super Squalos to race against?

At least there were so many people driving 250fs that you can have a full grid of just them without repeating any liveries. I have a bunch of historic 250f liveries that I've been working on, and they all have the individual drivers w helmets. Should be able to share them soon!

THANK YOU!!! We need more drivers, especially vintage and regular people without helmets and gloves that we can use for street cars. This looks amazing, can't wait to put this driver into my cars :-D

Mr. Malarkey

Yeah, I would have loved to have a model with short sleeves and short driving gloves. I tried to make a skin for the gloves that would make it look like they had on short gloves, with the "cuff" of the glove being part of the shirt sleeve. But it just looked weird, so I decided not to do it.
