Bronze Squad Development Plan

Swimmer's profile/ criteria:

Bronze squad is for the younger swimmers who wish to be competitive. 

  • Competed at 3 Club Championships and all the following events to include (400m FC, 200m fly, 200m bk, 200m brst, 200 fc) It is understandable that they may be times where attendance is not possible due to holidays, prior commitments (must be authorised by coach) and illness. If swimmers miss or do not seek authorisation from their coach for their non-attendance the swimmer may not qualify for moving squads and this could affect they status within the squad.
  • Keen in representing Eastbourne Swimming Club at various individual and team competitions (including Sussex league, County Championships; Level 4 and 3 Open meets);
  • Attend ESC training sessions twice a week
  • Gained Stage 11 of the Preliminary Start Award, or better (Starting block, deep end)
  • Gained three silver 50-m ASA Competitive awards
  • Able to perform a 8 x 100m front crawl, start on 2.30 using the pace-clock
  • Aim for County Championships
  • To abide by the swimmers code of conduct at all times

They may be exceptional circumstances when a swimmer may be moved to a group without achieving all parts of the criteria and this will be at the discretion of the Head Coach or Head of Performance.

Sub-objectives:

  • Enhance race technique (starts and turns, push off, strokes)
  • Learn key concepts in training (warm up, cool down, stretches);
  • Improve middle distance endurance (200-m and 400-m race) and speed
  • To increase the knowledge base of how to warm up and warm down; how to stretch and when to stretch
